There has been a Detroit Symphony Orchestra since 1914. Annually, over 450,000 people hear this orchestra. Their genre of music includes classical, jazz, holiday festival, special events, educational and more. The orchestra had an $80 million investment for development in 1996. The orchestra hall is planned for an expansion in the near future.
